چکیده

A welded structure must be inspected to guarantee that the weld quality meets the design requirements to assure safety and reliability. However, X-ray image analyses and defect recognition with the computer vision techniques are very complex. Most difficulties lie in finding the small, irregular defects in poor contrast images which requires pre processing to image, extract, and classify features from strong background noise. This paper addresses the issue of designing methodology to extract defect from noisy background radiograph with image processing. Based on the use of actives contours this methodology seems to give good results Keywords—Welding, Radiography, Computer vision, Active contour.

An Active Contour Model Based on Splines and Separating Forces to Detect the Left Ventricle in Scintigraphic Images

In this paper we present a novel method for the segmentation of scintigraphic images in order to detect the two ventricles of the heart. The method is based on the active contour model using a region based approach and parametric representation of the contour. The novel aspect of the method is that we have integrated separating forces between the two ventricles in the active contour model. The ...

Cell Segmentation Using a Charged Active Contour

In image processing, deformable models known as active contours have been used extensively to locate object boundaries in images. In this thesis, we combine concepts from two active contour methods, energy-minimizing snake active contours and charged active contours based on electrostatics to segment cells in images of human epidermal cell cultures. The first method uses energy minimization and...

Active Contour Models

Active contour models have been widely applied to image segmentation and analysis. It has been successfully used in contour detection for object recognition, computer vision, computer graphics, and biomedical image processing such as X-ray, MRI and Ultrasound images. The energy-minimizing active contour models or snakes were developed by Kass, Witkin and Terzopoulos in 1987. Snakes are curves d...

Comparison of Three Different Image Forces for Active Contours on Abdominal Image Boundary Detection

Active contour, or snake, is an energy minimizing spline that is useful in image boundary detection. Active contours are stimulated by internal forces, image forces and external forces which maintain the shape of the contours while attract the contours to some desired features, usually edges. Problems in implementing active contours such as convergence and initialization have motivated research...

ناحیه‌بندی مرز اندوکارد بطن چپ در تصاویر تشدید مغناطیسی قلبی با شدت روشنایی غیریکنواخت

The stochastic active contour scheme (STACS) is a well-known and frequently-used approach for segmentation of the endocardium boundary in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) images. However, it suffers significant difficulties with image inhomogeneity due to using a region-based term based on the global Gaussian probability density functions of the innerouter regions of the active ...
